Default Question on connections

Now I am trying to connect to my home network from a Windows XP
notebook, but notice that after connecting to it (it is a secured
network), the Wireless Network Connection Status window's activity
section has a lock over the receive end of the icon therein. Then I
lose connectivity and everything stops working. It seems that the
notebook is able to send packets out but is unable to receive them.

Is this an issue with my router, the way I set it up, or is it an issue
with the notebook's settings? If so, any ideas on how this can be
solved?
