Parents are to get safety advice on networking websites such as
MySpace to protect children from paedophiles who could use the sites
to "groom" victims.
The Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (Ceop) will run a
series of workshops in UK for parents, children and teachers.
Ceop said it was concerned that children were posting personal details
on so-called community sites.
The body said one in 12 children met up with someone encountered first
online.

Thanks for the info. I think it's great that people are coming
together to talk about this. And that it's being addressed in the US
as well as abroad. maybe with the help of organizations like CEOP and
NCMEC/cybertipline we can start to make the internet safer for kids and
really educate children and adults about what they should watch out for.
Re: How Internet Addiction Is Affecting Lives and Health
ive been researching this stuff for a while now, and indeed a lot of
organizations have appeared in the last few years to deal with the
problem of Internet safety. Education is the key, because without it
even the most liberally minded parents would not be happy to hear about
some of the things children can be exposed to over the internet. More
and more people are using software, such as at softforyou.com or
netnanny.com, and this can actually be very effecitve as the levels of
restriction can be customized according to parents specific
needs.(their moral standpoint, age of children etc)
all in all, a lot of progress is being made to make the internet safer.
