Nice and simple... The question is too simple.

What do you mean Linksys doesn't?

If you have a Linksys NAT router, you have some protection against attacks
from the internet, but not others on your WLAN/LAN.

You might want to check with your ISP. Many of them offer full Anti-virus
and firewall suite downloads for your PC.

Check the user guide that came with your adapter. The device does have
998SE and ME support.
