If I understand your setup correctly, Port1 of the Buffalo should go to
the PC, not the cable/dsl modem.

I just did this on my WHR-HP-G54. I used the dd-wrt firmware, latest
v24 beta
http://www.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downl...td_generic.bin

Follow the installation directions carefully at
http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php...4_and_WHR-G125
using the batch file listed there, and you should be fine.

There is also a firmware called 'Tomato' for the Buffalo, which I
haven't tried.

BTW, if your 'internet modem' gives its clients addresses in the
192.168.1.* network, you will have to change the default 192.168.1.* DHCP
assignments that the Buffalo hands out to *it's* clients, say to 192.168.0.*
This is on the main setup page.

No, connect the cable/dsl modem LAN port to the Buffalo WAN port.
Disconnect the hub & old router completely, you don't need them anymore.

Web update from the commercial buffalo firmware will not accept the
dd-wrt firmware. You *must* use the batchfile process to first install
dd-wrt. Did you change the ethernet IP/gateway on your pc before running
the batchfile?

Just a suggestion, BEFORE you even mess with anything else, why not get it
working?

You keep talking about trying it your way, and when it doesn't work going to
to that big old document (the user manual)
on that same page at the buffalo website:
http://www.buffalotech.com/support/d...-gain-antenna/

Documentation
Type File Post Date Version OS Support Notes
download
903 KB 2006-12-27 2.5 Quick Setup Guide

download
3.33 MB 2006-01-03 1.0 Configuring WDS Guide

Notice they have a quick setup guide...... You may want to look at
that.......

Wireless is real cool, however, the alternate firmware is not always the
best choice, and probably not a good suggestion for a newbie that's never
done it before... Heck, I've been doing wireless for quite a few years, and
I gave up trying to flash the alternate firmware after I "bricked" a few
routers... Just wait till you learn about "bricks"..... :)

My philosopy is that if it works, don't f*** with it... :)
