Default SACOM buys 49% stake in Cambodia firm

Vietnamese telecom equipment maker SACOM has bought a 49 per cent stake
in Cambodian Pacific Communications Pte Ltd.

The Cable and Telecommunications Material Joint-stock Company agreed to
pay US$7.99 million under a contract it signed in Phnom Penh on Tuesday
with the Cambodian firm.

PCP has interests in communication services including telephone,
internet, wireless, and WiMax Internet services in Cambodia.

Do Van Trac, general director of SACOM, said after the signing ceremony
that the two sides would restructure PCP's organisation and
operations.

PCP will also lay two optic fibre cables in Viet Nam's An Giang and
Tay Ninh provinces. The Tay Ninh cable will be ready for use in the New
Year while the other will be installed later next year.
