Switching from cable to wireless

I am switching this laptop from cable to wireless using linksys wireless g.
It works fine except on power up I have to pull out the wireless g card from
the laptop and reinsert. It also ask for the WEP key each time - which I
thought would be saved on the laptop after initialization.

So I must have something slightly wrong.
