Using a a second router to boost my signal

Hi. I have just installed a Netgear modem-router to replace a
Speedtouch modem and a D-Link router which are no both surplus to
requirements. I was thinking: is it feasible to use the D-Link router
to boost the signal from the Netgear? Suggestions please, PP

If the D-Link is able to switch to Access Point mode you can do it.

I'm not sure if it's worth doing, because I'll confess I'm not great at
the "technical" side of wifi (ie. ranges etc.)

That said, it's surplus. So you might like to keep it as a known good
spare or use it in AP mode, if it has one.

You can run an ethernet cable from one of the LAN ports on the new
router to a LAN port (not WAN) on the D-Link and put it in another
part of the house on a different channel for wider coverage, if
needed.

Turn off the firewall and DHCP on the D-link.
