Default wifi biamps receiver sensitivity

Help, I bought one of those old proxim cards with a spectrum analyzer
program, the analyzer
works fine but the proxim card is very deaf, even with a good antenna
and coax. I would like to
improve the receive sensitivity using a biamp. Most mfgs of these
clain 15-18dB receive gain but
you never know if thats real or just on paper, I really need one with
good receive gain and low noise figure. Sense i wont be using it for
transmitting this is very important .
Does anyone have any experience with any of these, either indoor or
mask mounted?
