wireless button?

I have had a wireless network set up for a while. Recently a laptop
(Compaq Presario V3000) stopped connecting. THe messages I am running
across are:

Wireless Network Connection 2: Not connected. Right click here for
more options.

When I right click and try and OPen Network Connections, I am told
that there are no wireless networks found in range. Even though other
wireless computers on the network are working ok.

Another button tells me that the wireless LAN is disabled and that I
need to press on the wireless button. Where is this magical button
and what does it look like?

Obviously I did not set up my network and know little about what I am
doing here. Any help is appreciated.

Usually there is a button and LED on the left front of the presario. The
LED should be lit if the wireless is on.
