Default Wireless Network - How do I block access to my PC?

I am logged in on an unsecured wireless connection. I would like to
know if and how i can prevent others on the network to see me, or at
least, prevent them from accessing my PC. Anyone care to direct me to
a site with simple step-by-step instructions or just let me know what I
need to do if the procedure is fairly easy.

TIA

Assuming Windows, turn off file and printer sharing, and ensure that
the firewall is switched on. Both of these have gee mom,
follow-the-bouncing-ball wizzards in Windows, if you like that sort of
thing.
