Agreed.

You want the advantages of the country, you get to deal with the
disadvantages.

Cobber, how come you and other critics of the wireless plan cannot get it into
your heads that no company is going to dig a15km ditch to give me or my 2
neighbors a line based broadband?

They just wont't do it, so wireless is the way for us country folk (who cannot
afford 2way sattelite)

Have fun explaining how come they did that with the phone line.

It isnt the only way.

Funny you should say the word "cobber", I know of an old Cobb and Co station
at the back of never never SA that was supplied a phone line in excess of
20miles (1 phone for 1 client)..

How about you actually offer an alternative woddles instead of looking
the dickhead you always are

Now the task is less that $60.00 a month and 12 mbs bandwidth with at
least 10 gig of download that's not wireless and actually will be
delivered to a country home at the edges of region 2 or worse .

No other alternatives for reasonable cost and fast broadband that I know
about Rod- its Sattelite ($100+month), NextG ($50month for 1 gig) (both
ridiculously expensive) or the new wireless system - if you know of
something else share your knowledge

Not necessarily that expensive.

There's been other wireless around for a long time now.

And cable for a lot longer for many too.

And even a bit of fibre too.

Well, it works for me.
And I don't work for Telstra.

Anyway....no way anyone is gonna lay fibre to my place in the bush.
Couldn't get ADSL.
Bastards weren't gonna tear up 4Klms of pair gain just for me.
And the people, 4klms up the road only got ADSL when the developer
paid a hefty part of the cost so he could sell acreage blocks to
escapees from town.

And they didn't always do that, for those who want to romanticise about a
'pre-privatised' Telstra/Telecom/PMG.
