previously done some contract work there myself. You can consider me a
supporter of Australia - and Telstra is the most Australian of any of the
major telcos, ergo is worth supporting.

I am of the mindset that I don't mind paying a few cents extra for local
product, as I don't want to see this country simply become a branch office
where everything is controlled OS. I like to think that I am helping to keep
this country afloat and buy jobs for our kids - that's why I don't shaft it
simply because I may not like the current boss. That's called being a
"fair-weather friend"

I doubt that any of us does. However, Telstra's services costs a tad more than a
"few cents" than that offered by its competitors.

My main gripe is its NextG service. If I want halfway decent coverage for my
mobile phone, then it's NextG or nothing. Oh, I can go with any of the others'
GSM services but they're woeful in lots of places where I travel.

So, I can choose whether to pay the extra that Telstra charges or go without.

I'd love for something like 3 Mobile's $29 cap on NextG. That'd suit me down to
the ground.
