Default iPhone Skype App

http://www.theage.com.au/news/digita...261544342.html

Skype for the iPhone.

How do the figures add up, regarding timed calls from mobiles versus the cost of
the data used to make a Skype call, either via video, which presumably the
iPhone app will do if the iPhone has a camera?

Skype Out costs money too, on top of the data charges that you will be required
to pay. So, where will the savings come from?

Using it via Wifi on the home network or a hot spot that has free access will
have its benefits, but they're (hot spots) aren't that common on the ground.
Business users stuck in airport lounges may find it useful but if their
employers are paying the bills, why would they bother?

Sounds like yet another gimmick to extract yet more money from the geeks who are
attracted to such things.

Some of us have enough of a clue to use a handset thats
got built in voip and have our own wifi hotspots too.

You're so stupid that you havent even noticed that you have that yourself ?

Your problem, as always.

I didn't bother reading the article, but if the iPhone Skype offering
uses "iSkoot", then its likely there won't be any savings.

3's Skype product is materially different, in that so-called Skype calls
(handset-to-handset) are routed as circuit-switched calls from the A-
handset to the Internet, and from the Internet to the B-handset. The
calls are only "Powered by Skype" part of the way.
