Default laptop to gprs mobile

I have a friend in Afghanistan who is looking to use this company:

http://www.afghan-wireless.com

for unlimited internet access for US$20/month via GPRS.

I don't know of anything in Australia that gives that via the mobile
phone network, so it's a pretty incredible deal - mobile computing.

I think the best way of doing it would be for the phone to be
connected
to the laptop via either bluetooth or Wifi.

If it was via Wifi, then the most convenient would be if the mobile
was
seen as a wireless router. But maybe that is power hungry and
bluetooth is better?

What mobile phone and method would you suggest for this? I think
getting one that had a web browser in the phone would also be good
in case he's mobile without his laptop.

BFN. Paul.

Most phones wont do it via wifi.

Almost none do it that way.

Bluetooth is certainly better in the sense that most handsets do it that way.

Anything that has GPRS and bluetooth. Nokia bluetooth can be a bit quirky, nokia specific.

That would hike the price considerably.
