Nokia tightarses or don't see a need for accessories?
Daughter just signed up with 3 for another 2 years and got the Nokia E63. Not a
bad deal, plan-wise. But the phone package was somewhat skimpy.
No USB cable, no CD. She had to purchase the cable separately, has to download
the software and manuals.
Given that it's not a basic phone you'd reckon that they would've included the
manual so you can get familiar with the more complex functions that this phone
does.

A Meltdown? One of those annoying buzzwords. We prefer to think of it as an unrequested fission surplus!

Bullshit.

Not everyone wants it, so it makes sense to have it optional.

Hardly the end of civilisation was we know it.

Makes a hell of a lot more sense to download it, stupid.

It IS a basic phone. It's free (or was free) on the $19 cap -- the
cheapest cap they have.

Nokias are crap. Used to be good, till about 2002.

Yeah, it's an excellent deal on the $19 cap.
My point was that on the $19 cap the profit margins would be razor thin,
which would explain the lack of included cables and printed manuals.

What do I need yet another one to throw into the draw?

female mini-USB plug?)

Who installs from the CD these days? Go and download the latest copy
from the Internet. If you do install from the CD, the first thing it
will do post-install is updated itself.

I've noticed lots of products not bothering with a big chunky manual
anymore. Again, it's available online, most people wouldn't bother and
the phone should be intuative enough not to need a manual to explain it.

I don't know. I haven't looked at it, yet. But clearly the USB cables that she
does have lying around don't fit it.

It's not only that it's also the manuals. If there isn't a printed one, then if
there was a CD she could read it from that or print it out.
