Default Optus to expand its 3G network into more regional areas

http://www.zdnet.com.au/optus-wins-r...-339304534.htm

The article says that Optus will be installing towers that will operate on the
2100 meg band.

Optus' rural 3G network is 900 megs. Why isn't it expanding that particular
service? Or is it trying to capture more of the market which have phones that
only work on the 2100 meg range?

If this is the case, aren't all of the newer phones that Optus sells operating
on the 900 and 2100 meg bands? ie. only older ones operate on the 2100 meg band
in 3G mode only?

Yes, it should be obvious that that last is the reason they are doing that.

Its not surprising that they sell those. There are a lot more than what they sell available tho.
