Indeed - mobile phones, blackberries, etc. which do two-way communication
are instantly available to anyone with the right sort of access (legally or
not) to use those devices as personal trackers. At least so far as being
able to get a reasonable fix using triangulation, combined perhaps with GPS,
etc. of where a device currently is located, and therefore, 99 percent
accuracy that the owner (or user if stolen) of the device is there as well.
Doesn't really do much for rail systems doing automated fare charging
though. 8-)
