Re: Vodafone coverage Melbourne-Echuca/Moama There's an update to this story.
Previously I said that I didn't have any reception on my Vodafone phone from
just outside Forbes near Melbourne to just before arriving in the centre of
Echuca on the Victoria/NSW border. My phone didn't have 900Mhz 3G so I was
relying on 2G and 2100Hz 3G. I also daid that the coverage maps on
Vodafone's website indicated 2G coverage in Rochester and right around
Echuca/Moama, and national roaming in Heathcote, but my experience did not
match that.
Here is the update. Previously, Vodafone's coverage map indicated whehter
the coverage available was 2G, 2100 Mhz 3G or 900Mhz 3G, and stated which
kinds were available in a particular area. Now it just says standard
coverage, without any further details.
For checking broadband and mobile internet coverage, there is standard
coverage and regional coverage, but the difference isn't explained on that
page. From looking at the maps, the difference might be:
Standard coverage (talk, txt & pxt) - one or more kinds of coverage are
available but which is not stated.
Standard coverage (mobile broadband and mobile internet) - 2100 MHz 3G is
available.
Regional coverage (mobile broadband) - 900 MHz 3G is available
Regional coverage (mobile internet) - 2G coverage or 900Mhz 3G are
available, or both.
but this is just a guess.
It would be nice to know what you can get (including quality) and where you
can get it.
National Raoming is still indicated though.
