Default Replying to MMSes

Playing around with the new phones I discovered that with either the N95i or the
Moto V9 if you reply to an MMS it gets sent as an MMS regardless of the content.

ie. I sent my wife a photo MMS. She replied with text only. But I received it as
an MMS, presumably meaning that her phone replied via MMS.

Same went for me replying to MMSes.

I wonder, do all phones with MMS/SMS capbility do this? if not, which phones
give you the option to reply via SMS to an MMS message?

I ask this as someone else pointed out that such replies won't be at SMS rates,
but instead at the much dearer MMS rate. And for me that's a bummer as my plan
has 50 "free" SMSes a month.

To stop that when composing your msg on an N95 go to the Options at
the bottom left of the screen. It's about the 4th one down. It
defaults to whatever the original msg was received as but you can
change it to text. Most SE work similarly in my recent experience. I
can't comment on Moto as haven't had one for a while.

You can configure a Motorola to reply as text as well

How? I can't find the option for this. I have the Telstra V9?
