Default Sony Ericsson C905 and Vodafone - issues

Hi all

Anybody had problems with their Sony Ericsson C905 and with Vodafone wanting
nothing to do with the problem?

Mine died as a useful handset about 6 weeks after I got it. I still enjoy
the camera aspect of it but there's no ring tone, speaker phone etc.which
makes it pretty useless as a phone.

I took it back to the Vodafone store I'd got it from and they basically said
it could be the speaker. Told me it could be away for 6 to 8 weeks which is
no use to me as I have it for work and have to be contactable. They weren't
interested in providing a replacement phone.

I took it home and googled up the phone that evening and found that there
are known issues with this phone and their speakers falling over. Forums
are full of chat about this. Should have checked for issues before I took
it obviously!!!

I've emailed Vodafone Australia but they aren't interested in taking any
responsibility for the handset, which is branded both SE and Vodafone so I
find that fairly interesting.

Has anybody had similiar problems? Did you get resolution other than
sending the phone off for repair? I've looked up Consumer Affairs websites
etc and think I'll take it up through them, but I suspect that's a looong
and lonely journey to resolution.

Tx all

Annie

Tell them to get nicked.

They sold you the phone?

In which case, under law, they are responsible.

Point out to them the Trade Practices Act.

Try the TIO instead.

http://www.tio.com.au

You may find that the TIO regards "sending the phone off for repair" as
being reasonable, however.

Seeing as it's only been six weeks, and you seem to have evidence of a
manufacturing/design flaw, you may want to try demanding your money back
instead.

If you repeatedly escalate the complaint with the TIO, it's quite
possible Vodafone with cave in just to get rid of you.

The obvious thing to do is to get a cheap handset to use in the mean time while its getting fixed.

There's hordes of dirt cheap second hand phones on ebay.
