Default Sound advice

WHETHER you agree with him or not, Telstra's head of public policy and
communication, Phil Burgess, has some robust views that are worth debating.

In his latest offering, the unquiet American has taken a shot at our
business culture, claiming that top business leaders are too meek and that
entrepreneurship is undervalued.

Mr Burgess makes the interesting point that in Australia business books
usually focus on the downfall of corporate titans instead of celebrating
success stories.

There's some truth in his comments and merit in his call for business
leaders to take a higher profile on a wide range of issues.

There are some exceptions, such as cardboard king Dick Pratt, Westfield
chairman Frank Lowy and major projects supremo Sir Rod Eddington.

It would benefit the wider community if more corporate leaders left their
comfort zones to share their experiences and knowledge.

No he hasn't. His views aren't worth even listening too, let alone
debating.

Then he should go back to America, where life is obviously perfect.

What's interesting about that?

There's no truth in his comments at all. Ever.

It would benefit the wider community if Burgess left the country.
