Default Telstra "blameless" for Daylight Savings Glitch

http://www.theage.com.au/articles/20...261487308.html

And this bit...

'A Telstra spokesman said the company was blameless. He said many devices had
"factory software settings" that did not always detect that daylight savings had
been extended to the first Sunday in April and overrode Telstra's network
settings.'

The trouble here is that Telstra often modifies the products' firmware so that
the user cannot change the system settings. This is most evident with the
Motorola V9 which is missing a lot of features that the generic branded and
other carriers versions have.

But in this case, my V9 didn't change time. I don't think that it obtains the
time from the network as I can manually change the settings. I can have "auto
update" selected to On or Off. I have it set to off. Seems to keep time OK.

Thing is, we can blame the government for it deciding to depart from convention
just so we can pay $50m to a pom for the privilige of running a motor race.
