Default Telstra Mobile is trying to get it's hand in your pocket? don't let Telstra do it?

On the 22 April 2007 Telstra Mobile will try to get onto your credit
card and your wallet
by forcing you to go from Prepay to Plan.

I won't let Telstra Mobile put their hand in my pocket to rob my
wallet or access my credit card.

Georges

I don't understand this.

I have phone service and internet access, and all I get from Telstra are
dividend statements.

and your phone service is provided on copper? by whom? do they have their own
cable to your premises, or is it serviced via Telstra cable?

your internet access is broadband? DSLAMs are located in whose exchange?

Do you really think that Telstra provide these facilities to your phone service
provider and ISP free of charge, out of the goodness of their corporate heart?
Sheesh - where do you think Telstra get the $$ to pay you divs?

Go on back to nowwearetalking.

I'd say it's totally relevant as it proves your argument is wrong.

You can have a full IP and telephony sevrice in Australia without any
involved with Telstra (beyond your telephony provider having an SS7
peering agreement with them) and that scenario was only one of many.

Sure, Telstra is involved with _most_ of them in one way or another, but
they don't have quite all of them.

Good luck doing that outside CBD areas. iBurst coverage is ****ing
hopeless. Optus/Telstra cable doesn't go past about 16 million Australians.

Your Statement is INCORRECT

Telstra is a MONOPOLY in this country.

No other Telco have access to CDMA in Australia. ONLY Telstra.

GIve me the name of a Telco which does CDMA in Austalia.

Technically wrong (and irrelevant)

CDMA *competes* with GSM and 3G stupid. That means there *is* competition
and NO MONOPOLY.

What was stopping the others ? Oh yeah.... didn't wanna make the
infrastructure investment of course....

Anyway, after February, no-one will have CDMA. Can't request it now either.
Move on, get over it.

Not so, the others just didn't want it.

Give me the name of a Telco that does AMPS in Australia?

Yep. Four GSM networks in most capital cities was considered enough of a
waste of infrastrucure :-)
Too bad if you don't live in the city though.

> Anyway, after February, no-one will have CDMA.

First our analog phones and a billion dollar network is rendered useless in
the name of competition, then it's replacement follows suit.
And the old AMPS network would still be better for many country people!

Orange up until last year?

Or I could argue that UMTS relies on WCDMA and hence is "CDMA", but I
assume you're referring specifically to CDMA2000 rather than the
transmission technology itself.

I still fail to see what this has to do with the price of eggs in China.
What's a Telstra technological decision made in 1998/99 got to with
anything?

The usual people defending Telstra.

Kwyj is the typical undecover person selling its mother or mate.

Kwyj how much do you get paid to answer these newsgroups?
Telstra pay well.

Tesltra is no more than a cult.

What a cult.

A cult of crooks.

And in your case your mother would have to be the same person you mate with.
Rampant inbreeding is the only thing that could possibly explain your
'problems'

> Kwyj how much do you get paid to answer these newsgroups?

Just the enjoyment of seeing retards such as you try to form a logical
argument and fall flat on your arse every time.

What a ******** you are Kwyjibo - how is there competition where there is no
other service available? Where I live there is NO GSM or 3G - ONLY CDMA/nextG -
ie there is no choice, no competition. Can't you understand simple sentences?

The fact that a small number of areas only have access to one service does
not make the blanket statement "Telstra is a monopoly" correct.
Are you actually stupid enough to blame Telstra for the fact that Optus,
Voda or 3 have refused to service your area? Rather than *****ing about
Telstra, why don't you get on the backs of those carriers who consider you
so irrelevant that they refuse to provide you with service?

> ie there is no choice, no competition.

For a VERY small percentage of the population, and even they can get
satellite.

Yep. You seem to be struggling with a single word though - competition.

Which is still a very large percentage of this country, and an expensive
satellite service hardly backs up a "competition" argument.

Which is obviously not the answer for this person, so repeating it like a
mantra does little to help.

Care to explain how that is Telstra's fault?

Price is irrelevant when the OP was claiming that Telstra CDMA is his only
option. He quite clearly has another option - Whether or not he decides to
take it up is up to him.

And whose CHOICE is it that there is no competition?

Optuses - because they chose not to build
Voda - because they chose not to build
