| | | Telstra warns on CDMA From http://www.australianit.news.com.au/...-24169,00.html
TELSTRA customers using the CDMA mobile network are being reminded that less
than 100 days remain before its closure.
The telco is urging its CDMA customers to make the switch to the Next G
network soon, as it does not want any of its customers stranded.
"The Next G network is now better and faster than CDMA, and we're
encouraging customers to make the move to the new network so they can
experience the benefits and features as soon as possible," Telstra Country
Wide Group managing director Geoff Booth said.
"By migrating now, customers can avoid any last-minute rush, be sure that
they keep their mobile number and, if they are using prepaid, transfer
remaining credit."
Telstra has also advised its Next G customers to contact it if they have
problems with the new network.
"The Next G network is performing well and I encourage customers that have
made the move to the new network and have any concerns to let us know, as
once we know about a problem we can generally fix it quickly," Mr Booth
said.
Optus CDMA customers are also being urged to change over their phones, which
rely on Telstra's CDMA network. |

When they will be told any problems are their fault.

Easy to claim, hell of a lot harder to actually substantiate that claim.

what will happen to CDMA accounts with resellers? eg Optus, Southern Cross

Just told them that the cdma system will be turned off. |

so far the closing date has not changed, in spite of the many
discussions telstra has had with the government and vice versa.
are you able to pull some strings to extend the date?

Ignoramus or liar - you choose which you are Rod.
If you don't migrate the service to gsm or nextg before the CDMA
closure, you will be stranded. the number can't be even be ported to
another carrier because it has to be active at the time. unless system
protocols are changed and there's no guarantee, numbers with gsm
prefixes might be reactivated under new connection processes - but
there's no guarantee it will happen either.
are you telling people to ignore the official advice and take a chance
with your esteemed knowledge?
if you wind up with egg on your face over this ignoramus, are you
willing to compensate the hapless customers who'd taken your advice?

there is probably thousands of CDMA services still out there rod.
there may well be a last minute rush if people listen to your advice.
are you advising CDMA users not to worry?

The govt has changed the license condition so

Nothing like that SOON lie, you silly little pathological liar.
And if telstra didnt actually WANT any customers stranded,
its obvious how they can avoid that happening, fool.

Even telstra should be able to handle those migrating in Jan, fuckwit.
And if the govt or the ACCC has enough of a clue to tell telstra
that they arent allowed to turn the cdma system off EVER,
then they wont need to do a thing except cheer, fuckwit.

Well, there's several hundred in this remote Arnhem Land community. Judging
by the pile of tel$cum cards sitting in the post office at the moment. I did
a rough estimate the other day and there's at least 300 sitting there. And
this is just one community.
Personally, i know quite a few people with CDMA prepaid accounts here. The
post office here was selling prepaid CDMA phone packs until quite recently.
They're not any more, since they started stocking NextG ones about 3 months
ago. I'm sure there's plenty of places like that. |
