Default Transfer GSM SIM to CDMA phone

I have a Nokia 2112 CDMA handset which I will replace shortly with something
else. I also have a Motorola C201 GSM phone. The Nokia is a nice simple
easy to use phone which I would like to keep, the Motorola is 'unfriendly'.
My question is, will the Nokia phone work on the GSM network if I take the
GSM SIM card from the Motorola and put in the Nokia, or is the Nokia
specifically designed only to work on CDMA, i.e. the Nokia will have to be
scrapped?
