Single Sign-on API

Hello,

I wonder if you know any downloadable/free API or sample I can use for
SSO. I have the Microsoft background, coding in MS
Visual Studio 2005. Or if you have anything from MS which is free. (No
sharepoint please, as I think I need the Sharepoint Portal Server)
