:confused:Hope someone may be able to help - originally had a G Netgear router which worked fine for 2 or 3 years and all laptops and PC in house could connect to it fine. It stopped working and then I purchased an N Netgear router. The ethernet connection on the PC works but I am unable to connect any of the laptops and PCs which used to connect remotely - the network is appearing with a good signal on each computer and asks for the password but then cannot connect. After much time on the phone with Netgear ended up taking the router back to PC World for a replacement twice as Netgear thought it may be a hardware problem. Last time decided to buy a Cisco Linksys router instead. This has exactly the same problem. Spend a lot of time today with Cisco support but still the same problem.

> When WindowsXP starts up, in the Start Menu it shows the last few
> programs that were used before the system was last shut down,
> unless one has configured it deliberately not to do so. I have a
> program called CCleaner (by Piriform), the purpose of which is to
> clear out much of the redundant data and clutter left over by
> Windows' normal operations, data that could slow Windows and could
> be used to get clues as to what one has been doing and working on.
> One of the things it clears out is the list of programs such as the
> Start Menu would reveal.
>
> I have noticed on several occassions that after running this
> program just before shutting down Windows, when I later restart
> Windows, i find that one document appears in the Start Menu listing
> as if it had been accessed after last using the CCleaner program.
> The document is Torrc, a text file, which is apparently stored in
> C:\Windows\system32. Does anyone have an idea about why this
> document would appear to have been accessed unbeknownst to me? I
> do not access it myself. Thanks.

Why do you have ToR running on startup? Remove it, problem solved.
Passwords, people, they are not just for game shows. If you refuse to
make the effort to remember a few long, diverse passwords, then don't
scream at me when your FICO is 496 and your bank accounts are zeroed
out.
>
> For a broad overview, the software features:
>
> ¡X UNTRACEABLE DIGITAL CASH: Fully implemented! Cash withdrawals of any
> asset type, using Lucre. (Ben Laurie¡¦s implementation of Wagner¡¦s
> variant on Chaumian blinding.) Once cash is withdrawn, the server has
> no way of tracking it or linking it back to its next deposit.
>
> REPEAT: Digital Bearer Certificates¡Xwith denominations, mints,
> expiring tokens, spent token database, the works¡Xfully-operational and
> ready to integrate with your mixnets, your digital gold currency (or
> silver), your anonymous network nodes, your bittorrent clients, your
> remailers, your secure voip apps, your nym servers, your snazzy, new,
> file-sharing client, and your censorship-resistant, distributed data
> store. This is what you have been waiting for! Real, open-source,
> digital cash.
>
> As well as¡K
>
> ¡X ANONYMOUS, NUMBERED ACCOUNTS, secured by public key cryptography.
> Your PGP key is your account, and the hash of it is your User ID. No
> other information is stored. Each user can create an unlimited number
> of asset accounts, of any type, each with its own randomly-generated
> ID. As long as you connect over Tor and take other similar
> precautions, there¡¦s no way to connect any of those accounts to you.
> (See PKTP and DMT for examples of this concept.) You can also create
> as many User IDs as you wish, each with its own key, and with your
> wallet software managing all your user IDs and asset accounts across
> multiple transaction servers and multiple asset types.
>
> ¡X It¡¦s like PGP FOR MONEY. The idea is to build this so that it
> supports many cash algorithms, not just Lucre. I¡¦d like to add Chaum¡¦s
> version, Brands¡¦ version, etc. So that, just like PGP, the software
> should support as many of the top algorithms as possible, and make it
> easy to swap them out when necessary.
>
> ¡X TRIPLE-SIGNED RECEIPTS for account-to-account transfers. This allows
> the client and server to agree on balances while simultaneously not
> storing any transaction history. (Client may choose to store his own
> transaction history.) No money can ever be transferred or withdrawn
> without an authorizing signature from the account owner. See Bill St.
> Clair¡¦s excellent Trubanc for an example of this.
>
> ¡X ANYONE AN ISSUER. Any user can design and issue his own currency:
> Simply upload the currency contract to any server. Anyone else with a
> copy of that contract can open an asset account in the new currency
> type. The currency contract is just an XML file with your digital
> signature on it. Hashing that file produces the currency ID, which is
> therefore unique and consistent across all servers. It¡¦s impossible to
> change any details of the contract, including the URL, the signature,
> or the public key, without entirely changing the contract¡¦s ID. To
> those in the know, this means that Open Transactions supports the
> ¡¥Ricardian Contract¡¦.
>
> ¡X BASKET CURRENCIES. Open Transactions can distribute a single
> currency across MULTIPLE ISSUERS. How is this possible? Users can
> define ¡§basket¡¨ currencies, which the server treats the same as any
> other currency, but which, behind the scenes, are each simply a list
> of 5, 10, or 100 OTHER currency contracts. The issuance is delegated
> to a basket of other currencies. Users can easily define baskets, open
> accounts based on basket types, and exchange in and out of these
> basket currencies using the client software.
> Baskets are an important example of the distribution of risk that I
> believe is necessary to make digital cash unstoppable online.
>
> ¡X DISTRIBUTION OF RISK ACROSS MULTIPLE TRANSACTION SERVERS, IN
> MULTIPLE JURISDICTIONS. The wallet software can store an entire list
> of transaction servers. Every new server contract that you import to
> the wallet puts a new server on the list. There will be many such
> servers, run by multiple entities and run in multiple jurisdictions.
> Many will run openly and with full access to their local court system.
> Others will run on anonymous networks. Users will be able to
> individually choose a server for a certain transaction ¡X or even
> distribute their assets transparently across a list of different
> servers.
>
> ¡X DISTRIBUTED ACCOUNTS. Your wallet software could display a single
> asset account to you, which it is actually distributing across a list
> of 10 or 100 servers behind the scenes, using the open transactions
> protocol. Of course, you choose the servers, the number, the
> algorithm, etc¡K and it¡¦s a trust market.
> In the future, this software will eventually merge into the next
> generation of anonymous networks. You can be a part of it.
>
> ¡X SEPARATION OF POWERS. The entities operating the servers are not
> actually issuing any currencies. Meanwhile the Issuers are not
> operating any transaction servers. Neither one of them is performing
> exchanges in or out of the normal banking system, since those services
> are handled by exchange providers in the various local jurisdictions
> (all separate entities.) This provides a lot more legal legitimacy and
> protection to all of the entities involved. Meanwhile all risk is
> distributed. The issuers distribute their risk across multiple storage
> companies, and the users distribute their risk across multiple issuers
> (using basket currencies) and across multiple transaction servers (via
> their wallet software.)
>
> The idea of separation of powers was first highlighted to me by Loom
> where there are many different issuers on a single server. This led me
> to explore further along the idea of separating and distributing risk
> across multiple issuers, and multiple servers ¡X which is what led to
> the development of Open Transactions.
>
> This product includes software developed by Ben Laurie for use in the
> Lucre project.
The only thing that T-Mobile has posted so far is an outline of the
device and the fact that it will support their HSPA+ network.
T-Mobile’s HSPA+ network has theoretical download speeds of 21 mbps
and upload of 5.7 mbps with typical actual speeds in the 7 to 11 mbps
range, which is still blazing fast for a wireless data network and
much faster than the Sprint 4G WiMAX network where 4G is more about
branding than actual speeds.

Hi Guys

I want to post a problem that we are having here. We have a Psion G2 Scanner as wireless endpoint and WLC with ACS authentication. We an issue of speed of the transaction carried out by the application in the Psion Scanner which takes around 12-14 sec, which usually occurs around 1-2 secs. We had tested tracert from the scanner to the application server itself and it seems to be in the region of milliseconds.

Also the SSID is not broadcasted and uses WPA. One thing is that when using the DHCP its slow but when the same DHCP acquired address is statically configured then it is fast. Is it anything to do with the DHCP snooping in the WLC or anything else?

If anyone can throw their thoughts in this, its highly appreciated.

Thanks
> Could anyone please point me to a hard disk utility (preferably
> free) that does a surface scan and *not* make a valiant effort to
> recover data when it encounters a bad sector? The ideal program
> would be one that can be set to mark a bad or borderline sector
> as "bad" and move on without spending a lot of time trying to
> recover it.
>
> It's not that I'm having a problem with my HDD. I work a lot on
> other people's computers that have nothing vital in them and such
> a tool will sometimes come in handy. I know of hard disk
> manufacturers' tools, but have not had a chance to use them on
> drives with bad sectors. A Windows or bootable DOS tool would be
> great.
>
>

Depending on the manufacturer, the utility may have the ability to
map-out bad sectors and move data as needed
settings or signal level. Now phone is still working, but Internet - not.
The default ISP connection scheme was scheme 2, which not satisfy me since
there are no router, no WiFi. For unclear reasons, the ISP demands customers
not use routers, and use only "default" connection scheme which is scheme2,
i.e. via Linksys Voip adapter, which works just as plain switch. Does
someone have an idea what settings they have changed? Signal level?
