Hi,

I've been having issues with my wireless network since its inception. I've spent countless hours looking for the answer online, but I'm still stumped.

What happens is when I'm surfing the internet, a web page will just not load and I'll get the "server cannot be found" error. The wireless connection status in the task bar will still have the globe, but I cannot access any web pages. Sometimes I can manually disconnect from the network and reconnect, but other times it will say it cannot connect to the network and I have to reboot my machine, then it will work fine. There's no rhyme or reason to when this happens, sometimes it's a dozen times an hour I have to reboot, other times it works flawlessly for hours.

I have Windows Vista on my machine, with an Actiontec PK5000 modem/wireless router, and a linksys WUSB54G ver. 4. We have a Qwest DSL connection.

I've tried calling Linksys, and they told me it was Qwest's issue, and I've tried calling Qwest, and they told me it was Linksys's issue. Please help!!

Hi,

I could really use some help with my wifi situation. I recieve a weak wifi signal from my neighbors house (with permission) located 30 feet away. The only way I can get a useable signal on my laptop is with an external wifi antenna plugged into my usb and I must sit right by the window. I would like to find a way to take that signal and push it through the house without having to go to my neighbor and bother them. I bought a linksys Wireless G Range Expander (wre54g) but after 2 hours on the phone with Tech Support we couldn't get it to work. Is there a device that can pull a weak signal in and then repeat it through the house? If the device has a strong receiving antenna all the better. The other option would be to take the signal coming in through the antenna and attach a device to my laptop to broadcast it. At least that way I could use the ipad and other wireless devices through the house even if the laptop had to remain stationary.

I am not all that tech savy so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Jeff

:confused:Hope someone may be able to help - originally had a G Netgear router which worked fine for 2 or 3 years and all laptops and PC in house could connect to it fine. It stopped working and then I purchased an N Netgear router. The ethernet connection on the PC works but I am unable to connect any of the laptops and PCs which used to connect remotely - the network is appearing with a good signal on each computer and asks for the password but then cannot connect. After much time on the phone with Netgear ended up taking the router back to PC World for a replacement twice as Netgear thought it may be a hardware problem. Last time decided to buy a Cisco Linksys router instead. This has exactly the same problem. Spend a lot of time today with Cisco support but still the same problem.

Hi Guys

I want to post a problem that we are having here. We have a Psion G2 Scanner as wireless endpoint and WLC with ACS authentication. We an issue of speed of the transaction carried out by the application in the Psion Scanner which takes around 12-14 sec, which usually occurs around 1-2 secs. We had tested tracert from the scanner to the application server itself and it seems to be in the region of milliseconds.

Also the SSID is not broadcasted and uses WPA. One thing is that when using the DHCP its slow but when the same DHCP acquired address is statically configured then it is fast. Is it anything to do with the DHCP snooping in the WLC or anything else?

If anyone can throw their thoughts in this, its highly appreciated.

Thanks

Hello All,

I've had a search on the Internet, but am having trouble finding the solution to our problems.

We have a Belkin ADSL Model with built-in wireless router (model: F5D7630-4A) and have used it for a good few years now, with our desktop computer.

I bought a laptop recently, and we have had problems with connectivity since.

When it is solely my laptop in use, the connection is fine, however I always need to reconnect the router several times, before the internet works permanently on my laptop.

The same occurs when other laptops are in use in the house, so it disrupts everyones connection whilst I try to connect mine.

Secondly, when we have visitors with laptops, and my laptop and theres try to connect at the same time, the internet never works, and the WLAN light switches off - not very helpful. The network appears for everyone, but when connecting, it never works.

There is probably a very straight forward solution to our problems, and if anyone could provide a solution of sorts, I'd be very grateful - I don't have much knowledge on modems!

Many thanks in advance,
Peter

Hi guys, I am a total noob to networking, and dealing with anything technical on a PC, I just normally point and click, surf the web and anything else basic.

Essentially, my problem lies with the set up of a wireless connection. I have a router called WBR-T2 Wireless ADSL 2+ Gateway, and it says something about wireless "g" on the box. I have been using this router for around a year and a half, but connecting it to my broadband and PC via an ethernet cable. I am on a plusnet broadband...if that helps.

I have tried to set it up myself, but with no luck at all. I have wireless usb thing, which is detedting my router/modem, but it wont connect to it (I dont know if or how I would connect it to my broadband connection). None of the windows troubleshoot, or any google searches are helping me at all. If anyone has any idea it would be greatly appreciated.

I hope I have given enough info for someone to help, please ask if you need anymore. Oh, and Im on Vista, if that makes a difference.

Hello,
I have an old Dell laptop with Windows XP. Recently my wireless card broke (2wire) that AT&T gave me when I signed up with their service. I was able to call and tell them to send me a replacement. But the replacement is the Netopia 3-D Reach USB Adapter.
I've done research and apparently there is a problem between the Windows service pack and the adapter. If I try to install the whole thing, it just says "Acquiring Network Address", and then finally says no connectivity.

When I try to install using Netopia's instructions to go around the service pack, I get an error message saying there is a conflicting wireless software detected. I've uninstalled the Netgear 2 wire, so I don't what else to do.

I am not a computer person, so if you are nice enough to respond, can you do so in layman's terms? ;)

The only other program I saw that may be the problem is Conexant. Could that be it? Thanks!

I wanted to improve my wireless signal distribution thru my house so I purchased a WG602 to act as a access point but haven't figured out how to get it functioning. I've read many posts but most seem to deal with configuration help.

I have DSL coming into the WG614 and I have CAT5 to a Netgear 4-port hub and CAT5 from the uplink port to the WG602 (this sequence is driven by my existing cabling layout). I followed the Netgear advice (Answer ) and I can see both and connect to both, but the WG614 isn't giving me a complete internet connection. The WG614 is 192.168.1.1 with IP range of 1.50 and the WG602 is parked at 192.168.1.99 which avoids IP conflicts yet still in range and visible to the domain.

Since I had the CAT5 cable sitting on the uplink port I tried to enable it but it had no effect. The WG614 says that is auto-detects on all its ports so need to worry there I suspect.

So, three questions. 1) do we think this is related to not having patch/CAT5 running thru the WG614/Hub/WG602?
2) I saw some very old circa 2004 posts that indicate WG602 can only function as an AP with another WG602...which seems pretty self-limiting if true?
3) How might I diagnose this further. From my laptop, when connected wirelessly thru the WG602, I can ping the WG602,,,but it times out when I try and ping WG614.

Thanks in advance.

Hey all,

I recently moved to a new apartment which is on campus at my university. After I moved in I found out that there are no ethernet jacks in the living space.

So I'm trying to connect to the schools wireless network with my desktop(vista). I have tried using a "D-Link DWA-130 Wireless N Network Adapter - 300Mbps, 802.11n" and "Sabrent 802.11n Wireless PCI Controller Card - 802.11n/g/b" but both times I would get about 2/5 bars and not be able to connect to the internet: "limited or no connectivity". This is confusing because on my Lenovo R400*(windows 7) laptop in the same room I get 5 bars and have no connection problems. Is it possible that it could have something to do with the desktop itself? Or is there something incompatible with the adapters?

I'm sick of throwing money away and not getting any results so any help would be appreciated... thanks!

Hi,
I've got an annoying problem with my Wi-Fi settings in Windows 7.
Recently I got myself a wireless D-Link router and a Realtek USB Wireless adapter for my PC. I had a bit of a problem setting it up due to annoying WEP/WPA keys and then I found the ASCII key option and got it working. However Windows 7 seems to forget the settings for my wireless connection every time I restart the computer(wrong security setting and old WPA key that doesn't work anymore because I changed it). So I guess it keeps going back to the settings I had previously. How do I get it to remember my working settings? I've already ticked that checkbox "Connect automatically" in the connection settings but that did nothing. Is there some sort of way of tricking it into remembering my new settings? It's just a hassle having to set it every time I start Windows.
