Default Bulk ESN check

So here's the deal, I have to check a bunch of ESNs for some used phones I have to repurpose at work at this charity. So my boss is wondering if it's either worth it to have an employee enter them in through online chat or call Sprint (which takes me to 20 checks an hour on average & $12 a hour) or would it be for worth it just use a third party service like Check ESN - we can check your ESN and pay them to do a check by spreadsheet. Economics of scale considered, it's really too close to call since we deal with tons of these phones.

Sounds like a decent idea since you could get more done in an hour than you would by phone.

Check ESN - we can check your ESN makes sense if you're a business. You could argue that it's too expensive, but think about it this way. On the one hand, you could be paying a person $9 an hour and having him make an average of 18 ESNs check an hour by phone or chat (since a rep can only make 3 checks before he gets fed up for very 10 minute session). Based on that rate, you would have to pay about $250 for him to spend 27 hours on the phone to check 500 ESN's, instead of paying CheckESN $497. But then again, if you are a big enough company that's constantly dealing with large quantities, you clearly do not have time to wait 27 business hours between shipments. So the cost does justify itself since it only takes a few minutes to get feedback.

However, if you're just some guy who can't get a job and is selling used phones out of his mom's house, then you wouldn't need it.

Yeah, the site's pretty cool and helpful if you deal in bulk.

Just out of curiosity, why can't you just ask customer service to check the spreadsheet of ESNs you have?
