The iPhone's 3G incarnation generated lots of hype at its launch, but it's quickly gaining a reputation for having slow data speeds and inconsistent voice service. Indeed, the iPhone 3G has been such a disappointment to a couple of users that they've even sued (one sued the company for allegedly producing misleading advertisements that promised data speeds at twice the rate of the original iPhone).
Here are six most common gripes that users have had about the iPhone 3G, from dropped calls to problems with mobile iTunes to lack of enterprise features.
• Slow data speeds
• Dropped calls
• Weak indoor signal quality
• iTunes konks out your service
• The iPhone 3G is still a "walled garden"
• MobileMe fails to impress

Well, bro 3G is 3G and nothing beyond that, that is third generation data transferring and not 4g, no one will expect miracles from it.. as they say, it is what it is

The most common complaint that i heard for the iphone 4 was the signaling problem that it had. Other than that there wasn't much that i heard in complaints for iphone.

interesting stuff since i was looking out for a smartphone but ruled out the iphone since it has these little gremlins in it. Come to think it, that even other smartphones do have a few bugs in them. ( Like BB and even to some extent android) I guess we just gotta understand that they are mini computers so there will be occasional glitch.

As a first generation product, there are probably still a lot of things that will be improved upon, either through software or firmware updates. As far as the other problems listed by other posters: The keyboard is not that hard if you trust the autocorrection. I'll mistype about 50% of my words, but about 90% of the mistypes are fixed by autocorrection. You can't do MMS (pictures from cell phone to cell phone), but you can email pictures directly to another cell phone. You can do IM, but you have to go to website to do it, common ones are BeeJive, Mundu, and Meebo. The biggest problem I have with the iPhone is the lack of approved 3rd party apps. I'd like to have a password program, more games that can be loaded onto the iPhone, and such, but won't be able to until the SDK is introduced in Feb 08
