Default 600mW ECB-8610S now shipping

I have been testing the new EnGenius 600mW ecb-8610s and the range is the best I have ever tested.

It is giving me %50 better range than the 400mW ecb-3220 units.

There is a short video here showing off the product features.

Default Receiver sensitivity

The problem I observe with high power devices is an imbalance with respect to receiver sensitivity. I use a 3220 device to bring internet WiFi to a remote dock at my marina. There are many places where we (the users) can receive a good signal but cannot maintain a reliable connection.

The 3220 device has, in general, served us well.

It is rare of me to make comments like this.

I have looked back at previous posts by keenanj.

It would seem that the only comments keenanj can make about an issue raised by a user is to recommend his products.

keenanj should just go away and build himself an eccomerce site, buy some advertising and leave the sales out of this board.

People are looking for real solutions to real problems with equipment they currently own.

Enough said

Fred

Fred, I help people with their WiFi problems every day and I have to tell you the number one issue is.

They are trying to use cheap consumer grade equipment with low power radios with bad sensitivity.

Once they get a EnGenius device in there the problems go away. So yes I believe in my products because I know they are the best solution for most SOHO users out there.

keenanj, let me put this a different way. This board is NOT a place for you to pedal your products. TECHNICAL SUPPORT is what this place is about. Unless I have things really really wrong about this place.

If you persist in placing advertising on this board I will formerly complain about you.

Nothing personal, just everything has its place.

Regards

Fred

Default Engenius products so far have SUCKED!!

keenan...

i wish the "problems would go away" with Engenius products, but so far, I've had NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THEM! Please tell me your competitors, because I'm dying to buy from them. Oh.. and I have 3 different products, and they're all brand new....

1 - the specs aren't as advertised (e.g. power reqs).

2 - they reset themselves... ip address simply disappear into the ether. (this happened to both devices within 20 minutes of booting them up the first time).

3 - to reset to factory default on outdoor devices, you have to hook up an RS-232 cable and use Hyperterminal. Oh, and most of my computers don't even have serial ports these days!!!

4 - one device of the 2 garbled nonsense when i tried #3.

5 - called Engenius, they told me it "wasn't their product" despite both the seller and distributor disputing that claim. THat, and the CD with name "Engenius" printed on it, that came with the non-Engenius product. Hmmmm...

6 - Wasted2 full days, and still don't have anything working, or anyone at Engenius who is willing to talk to me.

7 - oh, and talked to tech support at senao-miami... nice.. couldn't help me, but nice... and they've been INUNDATED with calls regarding the problems I'm describing in #2 and #4

Hi Cleo, can you tell me the model number or numbers that suffer from this problem? Wondering if all of Engenius products are this way? what about the older products like the ECB-8610- 400mW? Have any experience? Thanks
