Default Best modem/router replacement ideas please?

Greetings,

I will soon have BT Infinity but I see that the modem/router they offer with the package is only single band.

I live in a 3 storey Victorian house with thick walls, floors and ceilings.
My current BT Home hub is on the middle floor and to achieve a wireless signal on the ground and top floors I use Netgear extenders on both floors which do a good job under difficult conditions.

I want to surf the net, download, my son plays XBOX360 games online, and I want to stream music wirelessly. I haven't purchased the streaming device yet but it may well be 802.11a or 802.11g as opposed to 802.11n.
I'm looking at the Logitech Squeezebox or the Arcam rDAC - if it makes any difference?

Could I please have suggestions for a replacement integrated modem/router that is simultaneous dual band and will run on 2.4 and 5 GHz and it goes without saying it should be the bees knees!

Many thanks & happy new year to all!
Paul

Default

I cannot see any Cable Modem, Wireless device combinations that I would recommend.

I am currently enjoying a Netgear WNDR3500L running custom tomato firmware. I find this to be a reliable router for my purposes.

Most cable modems Docsis greater than 1.X will do well to bring broadband into your place.

Good luck
