Default Best setup for penetrating walls?

I'll soon be getting satellite internet and need to connect three desktop computers to the modem.

C1 and C2 are in two rooms in a steel-sided building. They can be connected to the modem via c6 cable so they are really no problem.

However, the third desktop, C3, is in a wood sided building 350' away from the steel building. The signal would need to go through one interior wall and the steel siding of Building 1 and through the exterior and one interior wall of Building 2 to reach C3.

There is a direct line of sight from the roof of building 1 to building 2, and I've thought of mounting an antenna or AP there.

I have posted a schematic of the layout here: WiFi setup

Questions:

1. Is there a router that could send a usable signal 350' and through 4 walls, one of them 16 gauge steel?

2. If the router can't penetrate the obstacles, what would I need to get decent wireless signal from the router in Building 1 to C3 in Building 2?

4. What type of adapter would be best for C3?

Thanks very much for your ideas and advice.

Hi, I had a similar problem at a farm. They had a office one side of the court yard and wanted to talk to a PC in the house the other side. The way I done it was to use a netgear AP and put it into repeater mode. This was placed half way between the buildings and boosted the signal. It works great and hasnt fell over at all.

Hope this helps
Kevin

Thanks for the info, Kevin. In my situation there is nowhere to put an AP halfway between (no power).

I'm leaning towards this:

1. set up a Lynksys WRT54Gs router next to the satellite modem and connect by cable to c1 and c2

2. run a cable from the router to the roof for a directional antenna

3. set up another WRT54Gs at the distant building as a client and connect it by cable to c3

Does anyone see and pitfalls with this setup?
