A number of people have asked about Breezecom units and re-config of the units. Here is a preamble to assist in the process........
Some config info on the Breezecom AP-10D SA-10D WB-10D SA-40D and Pro11
The AP/WB/SA 10 series are all basically the same unit. The Pro 11 is the later model, the AP-10 series are compatible with Pro 11 after upgrading.
Important: Correct identification of the model and software version is crucial.
Breezecom now does not exist as a company but you can go to
http://www.alvarion.com/ This site has all the software and firmware available.
Note: The units can be 801.11g however I do not think they will comunicate with non Breezecom units however I have not checked this yet.
There is a series of documents relating to upgrades, READ IT CAREFULLY in it it will explain the procedure. Its quite smple to do if you read the blurb but if you screw up the units are useless and have to be returned to Alveron for re-flashing.
Firstly you need to make up a cable for serial connections. I used a 4 pin CDROM audio cable and an old serial mouse cable. You need to cut off one of the ends off the audio cable to make it fit the three pin socket on the units, move one of the pins (sockets) so they are three in a row. As long as the Mouse cable uses pins 2 3 and 5 it will be fine, if not just grab a 9 pin D socket and connected the pins as follows:
9 pin D 3 pin plug
2 to 1
3 to 2
5 to 3 On my cable this is the red lead to aid identification
I think the earth is closest to the power socket on the AP10 if not then reverse it and press return. Enclosed in my Hyperterm config file. (9600, 8, no parity, Stop bit1, no flow control) The config page will come up on the terminal when you press return.
You can see what the firmware version is from the terminal. You can also program the IP no.
Make sure you have a good quality stable power supply (switch mode) at 5 volts not 4.99 as the units do not work! I know to my cost in time wasted!
A UPS is a good idea if you have flaky power especially when programming. NEVER POWER OFF DURING FLASHING!!!!!!!
You will need crossover cables if its an AP from memory.
Switches: Only the two on the right matter.
SA ^^^^ ^ = up
AP ^^dn ^
WB ^^dn dn
SA40 ^^^dn
The difference is the firmware! The AP ONLY has a different firmware the WB/SA are the same.
If changing from an AP to a WB/SA you MUST erase the flash and TFTP the new program. Wait till it re-boots. Power down then change the switches over to the other type.
Before you program you can change the switches and power up the different operating mode shows in the terminal. If you set a WB to AP and power on the unit reports wrong firmware version and visa versa.
I have not used the SNMP to flash the units I have here as TFTP was simpler. SMNP does work well and I can manage my operational units using the program.
Make sure you set the same site identification on each unit or they will not communicate.
Turn off the antenna you are not using.
Hope this helps.....
