Default Can a D-Link WUA 1340 be used to create hotspots?

Hiya, I'm new so I'm hoping this is the right place to post this. We're trying to set up a wireless network at my house, and I know certain brands of adapters can create hotspots and dont require a router. My mother bought a D-Link WUA 1340 Wireless G adapter and I'm wondering if it is capabale of producing wireless hotspots. If not, what brand do you recomend? Thanks for any help you can give me.
