Can a Yagi Antenna work best backwards?

I have been assured by Alltel that there are no wireless broadband antennas due south of me. The closest antenna is due north. Nonetheless, the best signal I get is when I point the antenna due south.

Is there some logical explanation for this, or do I ascribe this to the Great Mystery?
