Connecting to an ad-hoc network from PC via wireless router?

Hi,

I was wondering - is it possible to join an ad hoc wireless network from a PC physically connected to a wireless access point (Linksys wireless router) in range of the ad hoc network?

I have a wi-fi enabled device that I need to configure its SSID and passphrase for it to join my home network. This can only be done by first joining the ad hoc network it creates when it powers up, configuring the device settings before rebooting to effect the changes.
