Default Connection problem with wifi radio and new router

I've upgraded my router to a Netgear DGN2200 and can't now connect my MagicBox Imp internet radio. It's a few years old and it looks as if MagicBox has gone out of business - no replies from their email support - but my other Roberts internet radio is fine. I get the message on the Imp "Network Error" "Bad ESSID. Wireless config invalid". Before I throw it away I thought I'd at least see if there's any solution. 3 years or so ago I recall seeing a message along the lines of "there is a known issue with the IMP product and routers set to ‘n’ mode" - whatever that means! So I guess it's heading for the bin?
Many thanks
