Default engenius eoc-2610 antenna problems

I have a eoc-2610 set up as an access point pointing at an ip camera. the camera is connected to a 10 dbi yagi antenna. The RSSI shows -102 dbm with the internal antenna and it works but not very good, but when you flip the switch to an external 4dbi omni antenna mounted right above it, I get -89 dbm and it works better. Could there be something wrong with the internal ant.? I just think the internal ant. should pick up much better than the omni. If anyone could help, thanks.

Default Same problems

The internal antenna is awful, I opened an eoc 2610 up and what I found was a bit confusing.
The SMA antenna lead shield is soldered to the mainboard, but I can not see where or if the conductor is seperated or even connected at all. I have seen comparable radios and they are not like this. I can testify that the eoc 2610 is one of the poorest performing radios I have ever worked with and should not even be sold. In my opinion they are very falsley advertising the units capability and I am going to contact engenious and offer them the chance to correct the issue or I will be reporting them and their false claims to the better business bureau

internal antenna is most likely horizontally polarized. 20 DB signal loss when you try to connect to it with a vertical antenna.

correct you want to use the eoc-2610 with another 2610 in point to point mode or with a omni antenna attached in point to multipoint mode with any type of AP.

we have more informaiton on the antenna design here:
