Default Expand Networkfor netflix and wireless for house

I have a Netgear CG3000d wireless router that I get from my internet provider (not sure if I can say the name but it isn't that critical). The funny thing about this router is that it is connected to my modem (also from provider) with coaxial cable from wall, versus Rj45 which I'm more accustomed to.

This router and modem and in my finished basement with my main computer that is ethernet connected to router. The wireless does reach upstairs but not with the signal strength I need to run netflix wirelessly. I want to get a blu-ray player to allow my main TV to run netflix and secondly get a wireless signal strength upstairs for smartphones/ipad/laptops.

I would like to be able to connect blu-ray with ethernet cable because I think that would have better transmission versus wireless connection right? So my question is what do I need to put upstairs to allow this? repeater? bridge? access point? extender or something else? I'm having an electrician come to run whatever I need but not sure what he should run if anything. I've been trying to read forums and websites but can't find more specific info for my needs.

Do I run two ethernet cables upstairs (1 for blu-ray and 1 for other wireless device)? And what device would fit my needs? Do I need to buy my own router versus what I get through my provider? I do believe it is wireless N though.

Thanks in advance,

Jesse

Update: Would it make more sense to use another router upstairs connected to 1st router via rj45? That way I could plug blu-ray right in? The more I read the more I hear that extenders are hit and miss.

You can use the engneius ecb 350 it has a client bridge mode so you can attach to a switch and connect all your set top boxes with ethernet.

You could also run inuniversal repeater mode but you loose 1/2 the bandwidth with all repeaters.
