HELP on setting up my wireless! Do i need a LAN amplifier?

Hi,

I'm hoping someone can suggest a solution. I have a wireless network at home (share house) and I need to purchase a wireless PCI card to access the internet/network.

Two issue:

1. Which card should I get (I was looking at this one on eBay: D-Link Air DWL-520 for £10)

2. There is allot of interference between me and the modem (can't move it so need perhaps a LAN amplifier or something)?

In the reviews it says that the antenna is detachable - does that mean I can possibly purchase a lead and hook the aerial up else where outside my room and run a lead. Will that solve my second issue?
