Default Higher powered Marina Connection

I am often in a marina with a fixed slip assignment so the marina Access Point is in a fixed direction, but it is weak.I have a very fine EnGenius EOC2611P which I can aim at the marina DHCP "Hot Spot" and achieve a excellent signal on the "Site Scan".

Which EOC2611 mode should I be in? AP, repeater, client bridge or Client Router? What are the other settings necessary to get a good connection with my on-board windows laptop. Thanks....

client bridge would give you faster Internet on the CAT5 cable

repeater would give you slower wireless internet

Well I have been trying the EOC2611 out in the client bridge mode but do not seem to be configuring it right. I am trying to achieve the setup implied in the Marine wifi kit from Keenansystemsdotcom or the Long range Marine Wifi Kit from Wifishopdotnet. They both use the EOC2611 to basically replace the wireless adapter in the laptop with a more powerful ethernet cable access, forming a client bridge. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks...

An XP laptop that is connected to the desired ap (through Realtek RTL8187B} shows following from ipconfig:

DHCP enabled: yes
autoconjfig yes
IP address 10.0.1.30
subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway 10.0.1.1
DHCP server ditto
DNS server ditto

Exclamation

What is the IP address of the host AP? I'm thinking it's likely 192.168.1.XXX ???

In may be that since you're connected via the EOC2611P as a BRIDGE it will generate a new IP network in your remote site. In my case my EOC2611P set my remote BRIDGE'd site to 10.0.0.1 but the Gateway needs to be set to the serving HOST AP address. For example, in my case it is 192.168.1.199.

Cheers

Mark Oney was right, it should have been in the client bridge mode. THERE IS AN excellent video at youtube dot com/watch?v=tAUfjdSEKQY. Please note that there is a "dot' instead of a "." in the above url.

Neither the written material. the enclosed guide nor Engenius tech support covered the critical point that after you have fiddled with the TCP/IP settings of the PC/Notebook, and configuration is complete, the LAN properties must be returned to DHCP, and the computer restarted.

This is was the single stroke I was missing and is covered in the last few seconds of the video.

Thus the EOC2611 becomes a dynamite substitute wireless adapter for my computer, a long range wireless client bridge.

And Jeff Keenan explains here how to do it in the router mode. See instructions for Engenius EOC2611. I installed it with excellent results, without the omnidirectional antenna, just using the built in patch.
