How to boost laptop wireless reception without affecting mobility

Hi Everyone!!!

Sorry for asking ask same question.

My problem is – recently I have bought NEC brand laptop equipped with Atheroes card. Before that laptop, I was using IBM ThinkPad with same adaptor and found that adaptor is very bad in reception (Compare to Dell and other ThinkPad with Intel Pro… card – these two can surf from my room). And I changed to Intel WiFi Link 5100 – according to Intel that WiFi Link 5100 has 2X range, but still not working.
Another thing is my brother is using Acer laptop with SignalUp (using Atheroes card) technology and found that its reception is very very good. What I have found from other webs are that Acer is using PIFA antenna whilst NEC is using IFA antenna.

What I would like to know are:

11. Why my reception is not improve after upgrading to WiFi Link 5100.

22. Is there any way to enhance or boost my laptop’s reception without affecting mobility?

33. Can I use Cellular (Cell Phone) signal booster (place over my notebook hood) – which is sticker with printed circuit (metal) act as antenna.

44. Any advice?
