Default How high?

Check the required height I need to clear the Luckens ridge. 12m.
Called up the council to see what the story is with with putting up a flagpole (mast). They said call back on monday.
Figured probably easier than trying to convince someone to let me put a big phat omni on their roof.

Now Shadow, have you put up your lamp post yet?
What rules & reg. did you come across?

I inquired a while back and it was 5mtrs before you needed consents to put it up.
I have talked to some people in North shgore city council and if it is community based (just like us ) then they are required to be a bit more leanient but i guess it would come down to the council involved.
best thing just call back on monday.

Just got the official word.

If it's on the ground and below 8m (residential) then it not condisderd a building. If it's above 8m then there could be issues.

Now if't it's attached to your roof then there's no restrictions.
The guy had no definition for where the roof starts.

In short, as long as no one complains there is no problem.
Even if they do, then it's a case of how much inconvience it is causing them.
They wouldn't have much of an argument against a 20mm pole casting a shadow on their property.

So my next question is what are my options putting a AP and Antenna 12m high. They will weigh about 2kg total.
Steel, conduit, wood? Help

Aluminium with guys or a big bit of bamboo? We're probably in the wrong country to get a piece that big though.

Default Cost

Just made a few calls to some tubing suppliers.
MicoMetals, Steel & Tube
Steel 1" / 6.5m socketed / 16kg, $70 per lenght
Aluminium 1 1/2" / 3mm wall / 5m / 4.5kg, $95 per lenght

And misc hardware to attach about another $50.
Humm a bit of $ for some fun.
Might have to wait a bit to recover from xmas

This is the antenna mast I built. It's 8m high and made out of galvanised pipe.

They are all 2m long with the bottom section a 40mm dia, and the other 3 of 32mm dia. I welded bolts on it to climb up, and put 3 guy wires near the top section for stability.
The lower section is bolted to the house via a bracket (have pics if anybody wants to see them) and the bottm is in the gound so it doesn't take off sideways when your up the top.

It's very stable for a simple mast. To join it together each end is threaded and these are screwed into sockets. Aluminum would be better due to its light weight but I didn't have any available at the time.

Got a picture but can't attach into this reply

Strong enough to clibm on? cool 8)

I don't think I can put mine up. The lady dosen't like the look of a 12m mast on the roof.
The tall lamp posts are 13m high. 12m at the neck.

back to plan a. fine some one on the ridge.
