Default I've finished playing with d-link, whats the proper stuff?

Hi,

Ive spent far too much time and money buying d-link hotspots and dwl-2000ap+'s and have decided to now try and sell them on ebay for whatever i can get...

my question is:

i want to setup a wisp and offer wireless connections to people on a mainly long term basis, but also wanting to coin in on the 'hotspot' clients.

i would not have enough coverage with a standard AP so would have to repeat over at least 4 or 5 spots (difficult area!).

What would be the easiest way to do this?

How should I get the wireless signal from AP to AP, can anyone recommend a hotspot gateway that works (the DSA-3100 doesnt seem stable...)

any info would be appreciated

thanks

There is no good way to do this using consumer grade hardware and WDS repeating just does not work very well.

You should start out with high power wireless access points like the engenius 3054cb3

http://www.keenansystems.com/store/c...products_id=24

They will give you about 3000 feet of coverage in an open areas.

You can bridge to remote locations using another access point conencted to a wireless bridge with a directional antenna pointed back at the first AP. You must take care to use non overlapping channels 1,6,11 for the ap and bridge.

Get into the Mikrotik stuff - bit more expensive but gives you unlimited choices and as a bonus it works very well. I gave up on D-Link, etc. to this brand and haven't looked back
