Linksys WRT54G front panel button purpose?

Can somebody tell me what the button does on the Linksys WRT54G? It is on the front panel in the lefthand corner. When I press it it starts to blink fast then stops.

wifi protected setup button. push one button and it talks to all your wireless devices, finds the lowest common denominator, ( WEP, WPA, WPA2, et cetera ) sets them all to that and gives them all the same password.

works as well as the Cone of Silence in Get Smart.

strange that no where in the docs does it even mention what it does. i guess I get along fine without it cause I have no problem with my laptops or my phones.
