no internet access hardwired to modem wireless works.

my laptop has an internet connection and access, wirelessly. When I connect to my dir 655 router via ethernet cable I am connected but have no access. I have another computer hardwired to the router and it has access. I switched cables between the two computers and it made no difference. I can ping the ip of the router from my laptop and it replies with 4 positives. I ran network diagnostics and it reported the errors: could not make http connection, could not make https connection,could not make ftp connection. This laptop was working fine connected to this router. I was away for a few days and someone was using it. They may have done something, they deny it. Any ideas

I ran ipconfig and it showed wireless and lan were connected and had right ip and dns server. I ran ipconfig/all and also showed everything connected fine.
