a question about wireless range

my question is, if i have a weak wireless source distant about 30 meters of me in a residential section, then would it be any difference if i use a weak receiver (WLAN card) or a strong one. if i am at the end of the range of the wireless router, is there any sense if i have a strong wi-fi card or antena. my reason for this question is that i think if the emitted signal is weak then i will catch it as with weak receiver as with a strong one. am i right ?


and... if my card is outside the range of the router.. can i catch a signal if my card is strong enough?

The receivers are pretty much they all use the same radio chips from the same sources. nobody has a super duper front end that the other guy does not have.

first step is always: best antenna you can get. antennas affect transmit and receive side equally.

so you need a high power high recieve sensitivity USB adapter
