Default Signal amplification and testing.

Hi!

I recently stumbled in to a new position and am having a little difficulty testing my wireless signal.

The wireless area covers around 30 acres, incorporating 50+ waps, repeaters, amplifiers, and antennas. 802.11b/g network (due to some upgrade needs)

What i need is an application that will allow me to see all WAPs with signal strength at any location on my property to help me to determine my dead zones. Once i can pinpoint these areas on a property map i can better decide on amplification of existing equipment or purchasing more waps.

I know there is a CCNE tool that you can put on a PDA and walk wap to wap and monitor signal. maybe there is something else out there that is a little more attainable?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,

Jon

Try something like Netstumbler (or Ministumbler for PDA) for graphing the signal of each AP.

A cool product that can actually generate a wireless signal plot over any map you supply is Covera Zone. Unfortunately it isn't free for production use but they offer a free trial.

Thanks a ton. I'll give it a shot. I'll let you know how it works out....
