Question Signal Range Extender for a Laptop?

My boss is going on vacation and needs to be able to connect remotely. The last time he was there his CDMA didn't work for Internet Access. The hotel has free Wi-Fi access but only in the common lodge area, not good for business use.

What would be a good wireless range extender for a mobile user with limited computer knowledge?

I did a google search and the only thing I came up with was RadioLab's Ultimate Long Range Notebook WiFi Kit (link)

Personally I would just take my Linksys Access Point and extend the range that way, but that might be a little to advanced for him to do.

Please help, thanks.

Default Wi-Fire or similar usb adapter

NYCmob79,

I would tell your boss to invest in a usb range extender adapter. There are alot of products for this application on the market. Check out the usb adapters on the products page at Wi-Fi Planet - The Source for Wi-Fi Business and Technology or simply google usb wireless adapter and you will get find many options. My personal favorite so far has been the Wi-Fire by hField Technologies. You can check out their product at hField Technologies, Inc.. It can extend your wireless range up to 1000 ft, so depending on where your boss' room is in the hotel, he may be able to pick up the signal from the lobby. I have not yet tried to use my Wi-Fire in a hotel setting, but I'm going on vacation next week and plan to test it out then along with some other things. Good luck and I hope this helps.
